I had this idea for today's project for quiet some time, but never got around to it. I really didn't know where to start and what kind of bundles I would use. I had the clock mechanism in my craft stash for years and was about ready to toss it out. Glad I didn't do it! Well yesterday I actually wanted to make a card with the Dove of Hope bundle, when this entire project started to become real. I'll tell you the truth I had no plan, I just went on with a few trails and error in sizing, but finally got it done.
I just love the finished project!
I kept on adding ideas like a little ledge, but then I didn't know what I would do with it. So happy I had the Grace's Garden Bundle. I cut some of the garden gates and adjusted them so they looked like a little fence.
I also used a couple of dies from the Meant to Be Bundle, like the heart and the thin scalloped trim. I love these finishing touches.
For the weights I used the two maple dies from the Gather Together bundle. I sandwiched a penny in between so they would hang nicely. The pendulum I created with the Story Label Punch folded in half and cut a little slit to fit a 1/4" piece of paper. The little round weight is the 1" circle punch ( I know this one is not current, so please forgive me) but it can be any other shape. I also sandwiched this one with a penny in the middle.
Measurements for the rest of the cuckoo clock are as follows. Roof 5 1/2" x 4"Roof Side Panels 3/4" x 5 1/2"Main Body 5 1/2" x 6"For the front ledge you are going to create a box. Cut a piece 3 3/4" x 7", score it at 3/4" in on both short sides and evenly at 3/4" (4 score lines) on the long side. Cut the comers out (3/4" x 3/4") and then cut in to the 3/4" score line on the short sides. Before you adhere it together make sure to cut the slots for the pendulum and the weights.
To give it a little stability, I backed the entire Cuckoo Clock with Chipboard.
How do you like my Cuckoo Clock?
